oops…I have really let the blog slip in the last month! What with all the Iron Maiden stuff recently and the fact I forgot to take the password with me I have only updated once in a blue moon!

All is good. Just got back from shooting Maiden as they start the European leg of the tour. Set up a studio backstage for a cover shoot with Bruce & Steve. Very relaxed shoot which was a breeze to do. Shot the rest of the band individually as well.

The last week on tour with Iron Maiden has just been incredible. A sell-out crowd of at least 15,000 every night! By the time we got to New York the album broke the top ten at No.9 on the US Billboard chart – something Maiden have never done before. To say Maiden have still got it is something of an understatement. They are playing the entire album from start to finish each night with a sprinkling of classics at the end and into the encores. Its a brilliant album which the band are proud of and it sounds even better live! I am editing the final few shots from over 3500 I took at the shows. That works out to about 64 gigabytes of data. The Aperture software has really eased my work flow and made organising each collection of pictures easy to manage and export. Each concert now takes about an hour to edit and colour calibrate which is fast compared to any of the alternatives for Raw picture processing! As soon as the Tour Brochure is out there I’ll dedicate a whole carousel on the ‘LIVE’ gallery to Maiden!
Just got the new Maiden album with my group shot on the back! Off on tour with them for the next week or so shooting the new tour brochure.
I am shooting everything on the Nikon D2X using Apple’s new Aperture software. So far it has slashed the time it takes to edit shoots so I am confident all will go well. I am editing the RAW data using a MacBook Pro. I’ll post up a full run down of the Aperture software when I get back.
The apocolyptic Unholy Alliance spread inside this month’s Metal Hammer is worth the cover price alone! Well done James and Stocker for the world war III vision.
